Wordpress is a excellent content management system for bloggers and web designers. In order to get a better understanding of how the system works, we interviewed some awesome Wordpress designers about their Wordpress design process and how they built their sites.
A bit about Wordpress

Wordpress is a flexible content management system (or CMS) for a wide variety of audiences. From the everyday blogger, to the web designer. You can download the files and install it on your own server, or setup a blog at Wordpress.org. Many of the popular blogs are currently running off Wordpress. Who isn’t Scott Chacon?  Well, I’m not a professional Frisbee player, newspaperman, clothing designer or hitman (atleast, not provably indicted (in the United States (or any nations with established and enforceable bilateral extradition treaties))).  So what is left in life, one may well ask?  Well, I am a father, cat rescuer, gorilla tamer and baby signer.  I also occasionally like to run.

Oh, and I do computer stuff.

We sat down with Adelle Charles & Joshua Smibert of Fuel Brand, Inc and chatted about their background, goals, and views on the design industry. You’ll find both the video interview & the typed transcript below. Enjoy.

Matt Lyon, aka C86, is a talented, vector illustrator living in London, UK. He has a background in teaching graphic design to young adults, he studied at the Slade School of Fine Art at University College London, and he has successfully transitioned into working as a full-time illustrator. He’s inspired by retro folk art, children’s illustration, abstraction, and other artistic styles and ideas, which you’ll learn more about in this interview.

Matt has numerous successful projects, like popular Threadless t-shirt designs and his “Typoquotes” series. Matt’s work is driven by his prodigious daily sketches, which he then colorizes digitally, usually as vector art in Adobe Illustrator. You can learn more about his process in his well-documented Vectortuts+ tutorial “Creating Imaginative Typography with Adobe Illustrator.”

Ryan Putnam is an amazingly talented designer and illustrator. Many of you are probably familiar with his popular Illustrator tutorials at Vectortuts and his own blog, Vectips. Ryan also provides services to clients through Rype Arts, and I recently had the opportunity to ask him some questions about design and business.

Over the past few years there has been a drastic increase in the number of premium or commercial themes available to WordPress users, and more theme sellers have continued to enter the market. Some are well-known individuals or companies who have developed a reputation in the WordPress community, and others have just recently started selling themes.

Today we’re starting a new series of interviews, in which we’ll have an in-depth and fascinating conversion with various industry leading figures. We’re kicking things off with Adii Rockstar, a WordPress guru and the man behind WooThemes.

We’ll be discussing Adii’s early days as a designer, the rise and growth of WooThemes, a standard working day, his favourite hardware and software, and a number of new projects he’s beginning to get involved with this year.
