Anybody who loves photography must have at one point captured a photo of an object together with its equally magnificent reflection. Most of these fine reflections that occupy a part of an image are captured unintentionally. Upon close examination of the image however, we begin to realize that the reflection is an integral part of the photo and we can appreciate it more if it is present. The reflected patterns of the object therefore enhances photographs dramatically.
Since reflections are only natural in places where there is something shiny like glass or water, it really helps to know where and how to capture objects together with their reflections for better effect. You can really take advantage of the things surrounding your subject to create a reflective photographic art. Of course you can also an capture image, giving more importance to its reflection than on the thing itself. This type of photography is more challenging than the actual taking of a shot directly at your subject. Finding a suitable vantage point that perfectly gives a clear impression of the subject is quite a challenge. Even with a high-end camera, it is not easy to capture reflections. The fun and exciting part of it is that a reflective surface acts as natural artistic filter that sometimes gives a differently colored impression than the thing itself. There are also cases when objects are distorted to be point of appearing as abstract, and instances when reflections appear more colorful and vibrant than its source. It therefore pays to be keenly aware of ways on how to effectively integrate these of type of reflected patterns into your composition in reflection photography.
