Designing for the Apple iPhone: Six top tips


Designing for the iPhone can be a challenging task, especially if it’s your first attempt. Most iOS user interface designers were web designers before exploring the ever-expanding mobile market, and although the elements may be similar, the resolution and screen size most certainly are not. The designer needs to be able to fit just as much (or sometimes even more) information into a much smaller area, in the iPhone’s case that’s 640 by 480 pixels – keep in mind however you’ll need to design at a resolution of 960 by 640 for the iPhone 4′s Retina display.
